Full partners in research design, the Institute’s IT group supports policy analysis, data runs, and survey design, as well as software and hardware decisions and maintenance.

In 2006, IT specialists took on these and similar design and implementation projects:

• A web-based data-display system for the Tax Policy Center
• A SAS system for the Center on Metropolitan Housing and Communities to process yearly extracts of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data for the Dataplex web system
• A SAS system for processing early extracts of HUD Real Property for the DC Data project
• A web data-collection and -reporting system for collecting data for the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Project
• A new design for the Federal Justice Statistics Resource Center web system
• Installation of new web survey-authoring software
• A web-based "Marriage Calculator" that allows analysts and the public to determine the welfare benefits and tax liabilities of marriage among low-income couples
