LDucca@urban.org Ms. Laurie Ducca joined The Urban Institute’s Center on International Development and Governance in April 2011. Ms. Ducca has a professional and academic background in international relations and development with an emphasis on African affairs. Ms. Ducca provides project support to a variety of projects and proposals in IDG while also serving as Center Director support and managing the office.
Prior to joining The Urban Institute, Ms. Ducca volunteered, studied and worked in three separate African countries. Notable accomplishments include teaching at a school in Kenya, designing and conducting a needs assessment in collaboration with an NGO in Uganda, and completing a semester abroad in Ghana. Ms. Ducca also interned at The Batonga Foundation in Washington, DC, which is dedicated to providing opportunites in secondary and higher education for girls in Africa. At Batonga, Ms. Ducca was responsible for a variety of assignments such as social media management, writing proposals and coordinating fundraisers. Ms. Ducca received a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, D.C. She is proficient in French.
