Description
The Urban Institute Summer Academy for Public Policy Analysis and Research will provide a unique learning experience for minority college students who are interested in careers in public policy research.
While minorities and persons from distressed communities are often the subject of social programs and policies, they are greatly underrepresented in the field of public policy research. Adding the voices and perspectives of researchers from diverse backgrounds will make a valuable contribution to the field.
Our eight-week summer program will give students between their junior and senior year of college extensive exposure to policy research institutions and help them develop the technical skills that are crucial to obtaining highly competitive entry positions in the field. Students will also gain knowledge about public policies, particularly those affecting low and moderate income families and communities, while developing their analytical and career skills.
